I’m almost a week into this 30-day whole food plant-based diet with the help of MamaSezz! I’ve noticed both mental and physical changes… I find myself NOT crashing halfway through the day anymore! My energy level remains pretty constant as I continue to fuel myself with natural, organic, delicious fruits, grains, vegetables, etc. My quality of sleep is great. I would normally consider myself a light sleeper… waking at little noises throughout the night, but now, I find myself falling asleep faster at night, and sleeping straight through until my alarm (or my toddler son, or cat, wakes me up in the morning!) I’m feeling refreshed, and ready to start the day.

Whenever you drastically change your diet, your body will react, sometimes positively, sometimes negatively. I’ve noticed that I haven’t lost weight yet in the 5 1/2 days I’ve been on this diet (total bummer) as I was hoping to be down at least a couple by now. After chatting with Meg, MamaSezz co-founder, she said this can be normal. Some people see immediate results, others don’t for at least a week, since we’re ALL different. Our guts are sort of learning how to process all this “new” food we’ve been introducing into our diets. I’ve found myself bloated most days, but that could be due to the “gassy” foods I’ve been eating (as it is a high-fiber diet). I’m confident things WILL regulate. I also have to remember to KEEP DRINKING WATER. I will say that I haven’t had a headache in several days!

As for the meals that were delivered to my door through MamaSezz, I’ve really enjoyed trying them all and experiencing the flavors! The veggie sausages are perfectly seasoned and you forget that they’re not meat! I have NOT missed dairy, and I love cheese, but there isn’t a craving for it at all. That pretty much goes for meat and sugary products too.

One thing I have noticed, is I’ve been a bit moodier. Could it be attributed to my cycle, yes, but Meg informed me that it’s perfectly normal for this to occur within the first week or so of going on a whole-food plant based diet, and to remember HALT. Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. I’m a busy working Mom, with a career, a husband, a house to clean, errands to run, etc, etc. As my body continues to “Detox” for lack of a better term, my mood may be less than desirable and I may experience all these kinds of emotions as things regulate.
